“Excellent conference once again! I really appreciate the opportunity you provide for all of us in Canada to participate in such an amazing EP conference”

A Weekend of Learning, Transformation and Self Discovery

This year’s annual Canadian Energy Psychology Conference was great success. People from all over the globe attended this life changing event, participating in the magic that is Energy Psychology.

We thank everyone who attended this year’s conference and to all of the exhibitors and volunteers who aided in making this such a warm and inviting event.  A special thank you to our presenters for bringing us this amazing gift of learning.

Conference Highlights

“This conference is an opportunity for personal and professional growth”

This year’s conference featured an amazing list of speakers, workshops, exhibitors, and musical guests.

Held in the upscale boutique hotel, The Novotel Centre, on the Esplanade the conference was easily accessible and located close to many of Toronto’s most prominent sights and restaurants.

At the start of the conference’s guests were warmly greeted and welcomed by conference volunteers, who provided guests with conference information, and set the tone for what would be a magical weekend.

In the conference book store guests were able to peruse the latest in Energy Psychology literature and explore and engage with the various exhibitors and vendors.

The weekend started off with a keynote address by Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona, board-certified in family medicine, geriatrics, and psychiatry, bridging his contemporary practice with aboriginal North American heritage.

In his provocative Evening of Remote Viewing , Dr. Lee Pulos took us on an experiential journey beyond the self-imposed boundaries of science and into the richness of the deep tidal flow of our subconscious.

Master Teresa Yeung, a Generational Qi Gong Master, wow-ed us by demonstrating how ‘Qi’ Energy can be sent out from a Master to promote healing.

Throughout the weekend musician Michael Moon provided thoughtful and inspiring musical interludes to add a lightness and warmth to our experience.

Almost everyone is aware of “burnout” but most are not aware of its physiological foundation. In his workshop, Dr. Norman Shealy focused on techniques for restoring  natural production of DHEA, without drugs or DHEA supplements.

Norma Gairdner, MA, HD, demonstrated how TFT and Homeopathy have brought outstanding results to her autistic clients.

The conference was an outstanding success! When we asked attendees to comment on their conference experiences we received an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response.

Some of the heart warming comments included:

“Thank you for the miracles that happen.”

“Lots of love energy”

“Every year, I feel like I’m coming home to family”

“This Energy Psychology Conference certainly draws an excellent quality of attendees!”

“I will certainly be here next year – this is the type of event that keeps us going through tough times”.

Human Energy Anatomy Template: Energy Psychology Conference

By: David Price Francis

Energy is all around us. Just like breathing in air, we also take in energy. We are surrounded by a field of energy, contained within an egg-shaped skin or cortex, which is our personal energy field, also known as the aura. When we are born, our first connection is to the energies of the planet, the sun and the energies of our surroundings. Once we are connected to these energetic systems, we also take in air. A little time later we might take in liquids. Only months later do we start eating solids. These are the four foods of the ancients, known as the four elements, or fire, air, water and earth.

We are always exchanging energy with our surroundings. As we grow, learn and develop, we soon find out which energies are good for us and make us feel well and which are detrimental to our health and cause disease. Of course, this doesn’t mean that we are always doing what is best for our health; it only suggests that we soon find out the connection between thoughts and actions and their consequences.

Within the sphere of planet earth there are higher and lower energies; there are natural energies and there are energies manufactured by humans throughout the trace of history. The energies surrounding war, for example, are not natural, but once manufactured, they exist and influence our culture and our age. Likewise, high energies of human dedication, loyalty and generosity also exist and are there in the planet’s atmosphere to be connected to, processed and enhanced.

People tend to surround themselves with objects and energies that they like and that have a positive effect on them when they look at them. For example, putting up a photograph of one’s family on the wall can be a reminder of good times and of the endearment a person feels about their loved ones. We also go to places that energize us, whether it is a walk in nature, a meeting with a friend or going to see a good movie.

There are people whose energies are compatible with our own and those who might cause irritability, or sometimes even what would seem like an irrational feeling of hostility and dread. When we develop a relationship with someone, we form an energy field between us and within that field is stored the history of all our exchanges and feelings about each other. We might not remember every single incident that had occurred between us, but we can feel it, if we are sensitive to the  energy worlds, every time we meet.

There can also be a powerful energy exchange between a therapist and their client. When a person shares their innermost feelings, thoughts, fears, hopes and desires, the energy that they connect to to divulge this information is powered with emotion. No matter how aloof, distracted or unbiased the therapist might be, he or she will inevitably absorb some of this energy and will need to process it out in order to be ready for their next client, in order to be able to give them full attention and the care they are due. It is also important for the therapist to be able to go home at night feeling free of other people’s concerns and woes. This can become difficult if a therapist is seeing many clients a day, one after the other. It is a known fact that in the world of psychologists and psychiatrists, as well as psycho-therapists, burn-out is a relatively common complaint.

It is very helpful for a therapist to understand the workings of the human energy anatomy template as well as to learn about simple techniques for clearing a space and getting rid of unwanted energies so that they can move from one client to another without bringing the energies of one client into the field of the other. This does not have to take a lot of time and some simple techniques are very easy to implement but can be rewarding when practiced with regularity. For example, ringing a bell will help disperse an atmosphere that has gathered in a room or office, while spritzing the place with essential oils, diluted in water, will bring freshness and release a natural fragrance into the air.

Nature is a great healer of all. The energy exchange between humans and trees, plants and wildlife can be beneficial to those who are seeking for relief from their hectic life in the city or from working in a crowded office. The natural pace that one becomes influenced by when surrounded by nature reduces the stress and pressure that life in the 21st century is prone to cause in a person involved in the daily struggle to survive.

All these techniques for clearing and cleaning a person’s energy field and the energy of the places where they live, work and sleep, have been developed over the centuries with the help of ancient knowledge that has been passed down to us through the ages from the times of ancient Egypt and from those who are often simply referred to as “the ancients.”

The work of EnergyWorlds and Energy Systems Therapy is now being applied in four modules which form the EnergyWorlds Practitioners Certification. These four modules are:

  • Energizing Your Personal Energy Field
  • Charging Your Soul
  • Empowering Your Mind
  • Liberating Your Spirit

For further understanding of these modules, the Human Energy Anatomy Template and its relationship with the EnergyWorlds, you are welcome to attend my pre-conference one day seminar and also my breakout session at the Canadian Energy Psychology Conference, October 2012.

Adrenal Fatigue: Dr. Norm Shealy at the 2012 Canadian Energy Psychology Conference

I recently had the pleasure of hearing Dr. James Wilson talk on the subject of his book, ADRENAL FATIGUE—The 21st Century Stress Syndrome©, Smart Publications, Petaluma, Ca 94555, 2001, 2002, $14.95.

Essentially, he lists 13 major predisposing factors. 31 significant symptoms, 13 energy patterns, 22 frequently observed events, 9 food patterns, 10 aggravating factors and 5 relieving factors, all sub-categorized into past and present and graded on a 0 to 3+ scale. The only clinical sign he notes is a drop in blood pressure when you stand after lying 10 minutes (blood pressure should rise 10 to 20 points). Incidentally, I have found that pulse rises of 20 or more beats per minute may be just as reliable. I also believe that many children with so-called ADHD have adrenal fatigue, as well as hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal dysregulation.

Dr. Wilson emphasizes that lifestyle is the primary cause of adrenal fatigue:

Lack of sleep, a poor diet, food or drink stimulants, positions of powerlessness, perfectionism, remaining in no-win situations, inadequate R & R. Major illnesses/accidents, mental/emotional crises, grief, and major financial crises are also contributors.

The poor diet contribution is actually the typical American diet! Processed, pre-prepared and ”fast” foods are generally all junk! Use NO hydrogenated fats, deep fried foods, white flour or sugar!! A good diet includes a meal before 10 AM!! His recommendations are a wide variety of real foods, including 30 to 40% whole grains, 30 to40% vegetables (half of these raw), 5 to 10% low glycemic factor fruits, 10 to 20% animal foods, and 10 to 15% beans, nuts and seeds. One of his most important recommendations is to chew every mouthful 30 times – in other words eat slowly! Drink only green or non-caffeinated herbal and non-caffeinated tea, non-chlorinated water, and nut or rice milk. Avoid caffeine and alcohol.

Dr. Wilson recommends salivary hormonal tests as the best indictor of adrenal fatigue. He says these represent the amount of hormone inside cells, while blood tests measure only the amount circulating and urine represents only the spill over. Interestingly, he recommends salivary cortisol levels taken 4 times during the day correlated with their major symptoms at the time of the salivary sample, especially fatigue. Normally cortisol levels are highest within one hour of awakening (if you have a normal sleep pattern of rising between 6 and 8 AM). He may also use DHEA-S which is consistently low in adrenal fatigue. Incidentally, I believe that a FREE DHEA level below 50% of the ”normal” range, measured in the blood by Nichols Lab in Capistrano, California, is also diagnostic of adrenal fatigue. His recommendations for treatment:

  • Vitamin C, as ascorbate, with bioflavinoids, magnesium and pantothenic acid. This will range from 2000 to 20,000 mg of vitamin C! Read the book to learn how to judge this—p.194
  • Vitamin E, 800 units, mixed tocopherols
  • Pantothenic acid, 1500 mg
  • Niacin 25 to 50 mg
  • B 6, 50 to 100 mg
  • Magnesium citrate, 400 mg (here I strongly disagree. Magnesium lotion is far better absorbed and tolerated)
  • Calcium 750 to 1000 mg
  • Trace minerals of manganese, selenium, molybdenum, chromium, copper, iodine and zinc
  • Adequate fiber
  • Ashwagandha—up to 2 grams daily
  • Siberian Ginseng, up to 1 gram daily
  • Ginger root, up to 1500 mg of capsules or as a tea of fresh root
  • Ginkgo biloba, up to 1000 mg
  • Adrenal cell extracts—essentially dried adrenal gland
  • Natural progesterone—I prefer the cream
  • Pregnenolone, 10 to 40 mg daily

Obviously stress reduction, adequate sleep and R & R are also essential. Overall this book is comprehensive and the best I know on the subject. What is missing, I think is a look at the whole hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, which must include the thyroid, which is more intimately tied to adrenal function than the gonads. Indeed, I believe that it is the General Adaptation to Stress, as outlined by Hans Selye, which must be looked at. I will address this in a future newsletter.

By C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Norm Shealy will be presenting at this years 2012 Canadian Energy Psychology Conference in a breakout session on Transforming Adrenal Burnout, on Friday, October 19th from 10:30pm – 12:30pm.

Healing Past Life Trauma: Energy Psychology Conference

by Barbara Stone, PhD, LISW, DCEP

At the deepest level, time is an illusion, and everything that has ever happened to a person’s soul is happening right now.  Unresolved trauma from previous incarnations reverberates into our present life and influences our behavior in ways we may not consciously understand.

Indicators of Past Life Trauma:

  • Recurrent problems that do not respond to standard treatments
  • Unexplained phobias
  • Recurrent nightmares of a traumatic scene in which one is in mortal danger
  • An immediate sense of feeling unsafe when meeting a new person

Bernie Siegel, MD, shared his memory of a traumatic past life set in Irelandin the foreword to my book Invisible Roots: How Healing Past Life Trauma Can Liberate Your Present:

I was a knight, and the Lord of my castle was angry at a neighboring Lord for continuously infringing upon his land and not abiding by their property boundaries.  He summoned me and ordered me to kill his daughter in retribution.  I suggested he kill the neighboring Lord instead of his daughter and inquired what would happen if I refused.  He asserted, “Then I shall kill you.”  Well, my fear and survival instinct led me to consent, and off I went to the neighboring castle.

I told them I was traveling through and asked to rest there awhile.  They welcomed me in.  I avoided the young woman to minimize my emotional involvement.  I befriended her dog with treats so he would not be aggressive toward me.  Then one evening, I quietly made my way up the stairs to her room.  I wanted to kill her while she slept so she would have as little pain as possible.  As I opened the door, her dog came forward.  I offered him a treat, but he sensed my intention and growled.  I brought my sword down on his skull, killing him.  The sound disturbed the young woman, and I turned quickly to kill her before she awakened, but I was too late.  As she turned and looked at me, I saw the face of my wife, in this lifetime, and knew they were incarnations of the same soul.  Nevertheless, I proceeded to chop her head off.

This past life memory devastated me.  I sobbed for hours afterward and intermittently for days.  At the same time, I realized why my wife’s face has always had a hypnotic effect upon me and why I am so involved in rescuing animals.  No matter how upset or angry I feel with my wife, when she looks at me, the negative feelings evaporate.  I still feel the need to care for her and make up for what I did to her out of fear in that lifetime.

Bernie resolved the trauma of that memory and knows he became a surgeon in this life, so he could use a knife to heal rather than to kill.

The 15-step Soul Detective™ past life protocol I developed uses muscle testing to identify the setting, gender, and location of the past life and then employs Energy Psychology techniques to rapidly, gently, and effectively desensitize the trauma.

Dr. Stone is presenting a one-day post conference workshop titled “Actualizing Human Potential.” A bilingual psychotherapist, Professor at Energy Medicine University, author, and an ACEP Certification Trainer and Consultant, she holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.  Website:
